Jane Bragg
Director, Ballet, Tap
Mrs. Bragg has owned and directed Thomas School of Dance since 1983. She is a graduate of Mt. Holyoke College with a Masters Degree from Wesleyan University. She studied dance in New Hampshire before settling in Bangor where she studied with Polly Thomas.
Sally Frost
Tap
Sally Frost trained with Polly Thomas and has taught tap technique at Thomas School of Dance for many years. She coaches the Sweet Adeline's singing group and has also been seen in many local theater productions.
Cassandra Lovett
Hip Hop, Pre-School, Tap, Ballet
Cassandra has 22 years of dance training including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and modern. She has studied under teachers from companies such as Alvin Ailey and the Joffrey Ballet. She is co-instructor of TSD's performance/competition team, The Rising Stars. Her most recent travels took her to New Brunswick, Canada, where she judged the Atlantic Dance Competition. Cassandra holds a degree in music education from the Univevrsity of Maine and is currently studying for a degree in athletic training.
Serena Lovett
Musical Theater, Jazz, Tap, Ballet
Serena is an elementary education major at the University of Maine with an emphasis on the performing arts. She studied all forms of dance for many years and was active in theater productions at Bangor High School.
Heinrick Snyder
Ballet
Heinrick is a graduate of the University of Maine. He has danced principal roles with the Robinson Ballet Company, the Bossov Ballet and Mt. Desert Ballet, has appeared in Bangor Youth Ballet productions, and serves as choreographer for Bangor Youth Ballet.
Gene Syphers
Tap
Gene began his dance training with Polly Thomas and continues to study at workshops throughout New England. He teaches adult tap and has been coaching the senior tap group for over 20 years.
Cassie Pillsbury
Jazz, Afro-Caribbean, Irish, Preschool
Cassie Pillsbury is a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in Dance and World Studies. She was student director of UMF dancers and has been head dance instructor and counselor at Hidden Valley Camp. She has 18 years of dance training including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, clogging and Irish.
Karen McCall
Ballroom
Karen has been teaching ballroom dance in the Bangor area for several years and began teaching at Thomas School of Dance in the 2004 season.
Ivy Forrest
Ballet and Pointe
Ms Forrest is the director of the ballet program at Thomas School of Dance. Ms. Forrest's dance resume is impressive. Having trained with George Balanchine, she became a soloist with the Joffrey Ballet at age 16 and a principal dancer by age 17, the same year she graduated from The Professional Children's School. She has had the honor of dancing at the White House during the Johnson Administration and has had "the good fortune to meet & work" with some of the great dancers of our times, including Balanchine, Stravinsky, Fosse, Nureyev, Gelsey Kirkland, and Maria Tallchief, to name just a few. Over the past few years Ms. Forrest has offered special dance workshops at Thomas School of Dance during vacation weeks. She is also the artistic director of Bangor Ballet.
